Don’t Turn A Bad Time Into A Bad Day

You don't have to turn a bad time into a bad day

Today I decided that a bad moment, a discussion or an unkind criticism will only be passing clouds, which will no longer ruin my days, because a bad moment is not synonymous with a bad life,  and I deserve to be happy.

We are sure that you too will have gone through a period during which it seemed that bad moments followed one another, giving life, no one knows how, to a season of helplessness  and particularly negative feelings. These are phases in which stress and anxiety adhere to our body like a second skin.

After all, and if we think about it for a second, we will realize that there are few days in which we arrive in the evening without having had at least one bad moment,  however insignificant it may have been.

An argument, a misunderstanding, a disillusionment, an unexpected meeting that we didn’t want to make, a mistake, a wrong gesture, an affront, bad news, something that breaks or gets lost, a memory that comes to the surface …

They are, as they say, very common aspects. Well, in this spectrum there are things of little importance and elements a little more serious. Both cases must be faced with adequate serenity and emotional intelligence. We explain how.

A bad time does not correspond to a bad life

We all find ourselves facing complex situations throughout life. Nevertheless, there are those who tolerate the bad moments that often arise in the morning a little less,  to the point of accumulating so much anger and so much indignation already at lunchtime and end the day with an incredible headache and thinking that life is really bad. Do you know anyone like that?

Most likely, you too know  people who, when faced with an argument, are almost incapable of putting a stone on it and moving on. In their minds the anger, the rage, the “I’m right”, the “ruined my day” and the “I can’t help thinking about it” continue to find space.

  • The constant anger, not knowing how to manage bad moments to the point of making a drama of any aspect are the reflection of a person who insists on denying reality or, at least, to face it.
  • If something bothers them, if something unexpected happens, they always react by expressing anger,  raising their voice and gesticulating. People who turn a bad time into a bad life are always on the defensive and see the world as their enemy.
  • The world is not our enemy,  there are those who get angry when they do not understand something or when they cannot control it: a discussion between partners, for example, is a normal thing, but there are people who do not have the adequate strategies to deal with it and they see in every word an affront, they are not empathic, they are unable to understand the point of view of others.

Life also brings bad moments with it and, instead of reacting by thinking “they all happen to me”, it is better to understand as soon as possible the origin of that bad moment, solve it, accept it and take possession of your day again.

The moment you stop worrying, you start enjoying life

It’s easy to say, but how do you do it? How can we stop worrying about things like this? Trying to maintain a proper balance in your life and prioritizing the really important things: your well-being is one of them.

You have to allow yourself to be happy and, for this, it is worthwhile to understand how to handle the bad moments of the day:

  • Be aware that everything passes,  that for every mistake there is a solution, that criticism does not define you, that whoever makes you unhappy does not deserve your attention, let alone your tears.
  • Turn off all negative emotions by first understanding them e. subsequently, channeling them.  A discussion does not end by raising one’s voice; maybe you just need to interrupt it and resume it at another time, to disconnect and calmly clear your head.
  • If you allow it, a bad moment can be followed by a wonderful day. Say “no” to recurring and negative thoughts, check for unproductive attitudes,  those that make you think that yours is actually a bad life. Avoid all that mental noise that brings with it serious consequences.
  • Disconnect from the negative noise, take a moment for yourself and overcome the negative emotions with new enthusiasm,  with new projects in the short term.
