Maybe One Day We Will Find What We Are Looking For … Or Maybe Not

Maybe someday we'll find what we're looking for ... or maybe not

As Saadi de Shiraz, a 12th century Persian poet said, “every being comes into the world with a certain purpose.” We can take years to find the reason for this goal, in any case  sooner or later we will find what we were looking for so much … or  maybe not: maybe we will find something much better.

We must admit, it is not necessary to be religious to often ask “why we are here”. It is our consciousness that acts as an emotional sensor and pushes us to expect something more from our existence,  something special, something transcendent, which gives a stronger and more authentic meaning to our life.

Far from seeing this dimension as a simple restlessness of a young person trying to reach maturity or of an adult labeled as immature because despite the passage of time he still feels a strong existential emptiness, we must see it for what it really is: a journey through the which to achieve our vital purposes. It’s similar to what U2 leader Bono gives us in his song   “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” .

Before obsessing over not having yet obtained the philosopher’s stone, that purpose or reason for inspiration, we must see things in another perspective: as a search thanks to which we can enrich ourselves at every step, every mountain climbed, every loved one. , with every acquired knowledge.

The difficulty of reaching our vital goal in the wrong place

Sooner or later we will find it: what our being craves, what our heart feels like an inexorable emptiness that, at times, makes us feel bad and makes us despair. However, despite all the doubts, the crosses that we will meet on our path and the conflicting voices, one thing must be clear: sometimes we look for our goal in the wrong place.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, a famous 19th century philosopher and poet, once said that no matter what idea, dream or goal we set ourselves, there will always be someone ready to prove us wrong. This makes us reflect on the fact that we often spend a large part of our life immersed in contexts that do not help us. There are families, friendships and even certain social contexts that partially or completely destroy all our expectations.

Docile people, who take the blows and keep quiet are destined to spend most of their lives waiting for something, hoping and wishing that something will happen and that it can take away the feeling of frustration and deep existential emptiness they feel. Oppressive contexts give rise to souls that dream of escaping,  because nothing grows in this substratum, because nothing can be achieved in a scenario delimited by scissors that tear our hopes to pieces.

Someday maybe we will find what we are looking for… or maybe not

Sometimes we believe we have found what we wanted so much: great love, a good job, a lifelong desire. However, we then realize that that love was not so true, that work was not so good and that goal did not give the desired results.

Before falling into the trap of repentance, one thing must be remembered: life is movement and the search never stops, because the human being is an adventurer by nature,  he is hungry for emotions, thirst for knowledge and anxiety for experience through which grow.

To put the machinery of this vital quest in motion, we propose that you reflect on the following concepts:

wishes

Key points to initiate change and achieve our goals

Kark Pillemer is a scientist and ethologist at Cornell University who, through the book 30 lessons for living , explains to us that one of the biggest problems is that we are not connected with our “future self”. It’s not about taking a journey into the future like Spock in the Star Trek movie   to gain wisdom by communicating with his future and past selves.

It is a question of binding ourselves to that future in which we imagine ourselves, exactly as we would like it to be. A peaceful future, a peaceful life, surrounded by people we really love. Without artifice, without anything in excess, without any lack. That aspiration must be our present motivation.

  • We must learn to look at what surrounds us by always connecting with what we have inside, with our essence.  It is about being receptive and moving forward in life in accordance with our values and feelings. In this way, everything we find will be satisfactory.
  • We’ve all heard about the law of attraction at least once. The theory that the universe orchestrates its parts according to the wishes of each of us has considerable nuances. The ideal is to follow an even simpler advice: attraction and intention must always go hand in hand. If you are looking for something, take action. If you really want something, leave your comfort zone: be the architects of your life.

Sooner or later we will succeed: we will find what we are looking for, or maybe not, maybe we will find something better. However, during this journey, never forget to always carry the best equipment with you: a spirit of dedication, compromise, struggle and love for everything you do, offer or build.
